Laptop Screen Wrong [SOLVED]

Good Morning,

I have a Laptop Asus, my laptop was working OK until yesterday (the driver that i installed was xf86-video-intel); but after an update yesterday (pacman -Syyuu),  the laptop screen is wrong.  In the setup it seems OK (1366x768 683.384), but the screen appears more bigger than it is, as if it doesn't fit on the screen.  I tried install mesa and mesa-demos and xf86-video-intel but it didn't solve it error, even I installed a earlier version of driver but it didn't work (pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/xf86-video-intel-old-version). I don't know what to do and i don't reinstall Arch or worst Debian.  Helpl!, thanks so much

Re: Laptop Screen Wrong [SOLVED]

Is there a reason you are using that driver for Intel?  If not, you might just try uninstalling it.

As I read in the documentation, this is the one to use for Intel. Is there an alternative?  I am using KDE-Plasma.  My Laptop worked fine until yesterday with this driver, after updating the error came.

Re: Laptop Screen Wrong [SOLVED]

Actually read the link ewaller posted, the kernel's native modesetting is invariably better than the intel driver.

Also, you don't include any information in your post about what was updated: no-one here can guess what you have installed...

Re: Laptop Screen Wrong [SOLVED]

Ok thanks, I updated the system with [pacman -Syyuu] command, I use kernel LTS for greater stability, my laptop had been working fine for several months.  is it an error to use kernel LTS?

Re: Laptop Screen Wrong [SOLVED]

LTS is fine.  The Intel driver has a reputation for being buggy.  Most people are much more happy with the default driver.  There are a couple use cases for the Intel driver, but they are the exception.

Edit: and stop using the yy switch for Pacman.  It is an abuse of server bandwidth and provides no benefit except in recovering from database corruption.  I do not know who is recommending this, but I really wish they would stop.
And, do you know what the uu switch does?  Is that what you want?

That isn't a list of packages... Please paste the full pacman.log

Re: Laptop Screen Wrong [SOLVED]

already I install arch again,I couldn't solve it, I don't install xf86-video-intel as you recommended me.  How are the non-LTS kernels ?, very unstable?, I can easily break the system again with non-LTS kernel?

Re: Laptop Screen Wrong [SOLVED]

You are using the wrong distro. Install Debian if you aren't willing to solve simple issues.
