GPG keeps timing out

We need to generate a lot of random bytes. It is a good idea to perform
some other action (type on the keyboard, move the mouse, utilize the
disks) during the prime generation; this gives the random number
generator a better chance to gain enough entropy.

Did you do this?

Yes I did.

I noticed that GPG asked for the passphrase in the terminal that you see shortly during start-up and shutdown.
And I think it times out because it was expecting me to enter something but I can't because it's in the wrong terminal.

First three results suggest either some ownership/permission problem or rm -rf ~/.gnupg.
