[Solved] darktable version issue

The version of darktable in the Arch repository is 3.0.2. The current official release version is 3.2.1. Yesterday, I needed to use some of the newer features, so I installed from the AUR, where the package is labeled as 3.1. However, what I got was the latest development snapshot of 3.3. It downloaded and compiled the source from GITHub.

So, I am in kind of a pickle. 3.3 upgraded the darktable database, and I cannot go back. However, I "spoke" with one of the developers a few minutes ago, and he told me that the current state of the snapshot is probably still compatible with 3.2. So, if I could get 3.2, I could probably use it without a problem.

This is probably not the right place to ask, but is there a chance that Arch could upgrade the repository version to 3.2.1? Or, should I try to contact the Arch maintainer of that package?

Re: [Solved] darktable version issue

It's marked as out of date it will be updated eventually: note #6 and the related resolution of building the package yourself if you need the new version now: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Build_System

FWIW packages with a -git postfix are always expected to dynamically update the release number and grab the latest commit.

I had to do stuff with my wife, today. When I got back, I found darktable 3.2.1 in the Arch repository. So, problem REALLY solved.

Well, wait just a minute. The web Arch Packages database shows darktable 3.2.1. But if you run "pacman -S darktable", you still get 3.0.2. I tried five different repos, including one in Germany that has a rating of 0.0 on the mirror status page.
