Remote hardware diag using Arch?

Is it possible to read the P.O.S.T. debug codes from a USB EHCI port on another system/motherboard by connecting a USB Crossover cable to my Arch setup, and running a terminal emu to connect to it?

I currently use a PCI POST card to test all my fried motherboards directly, but it's not always a suitable solution.

Would one of the penetration distros have more appropriate tools onboard for hardware debugging etc?
