[SOLVED] I am not administrator in KDE!

Hi,
I just installed arch linux with KDE.
At the time of writing this, I do not have a monitor, but did have a TV. I tested the installation on the TV, but I cannot work on the TV. So I setup chrome-remote-desktop to work with my laptop and the newly installed arch linux computer with the TV.
It seems to be working, without the TV.

I began customising KDE in system settings, then noticed that I cannot customising the login screen.
System Settings -> Startup and Shutdown -> Login Screen (SDDM)
Under the heading Login Screen, I see " You are not allowed to "You are not allowed to save the configuration".
Why is this the case?

Another Observation:
I tried to connect to wifi, (was using cable before) but see this notification: "org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.network-control request failed: not authorized"

But when I got to System Settings -> Account Details -> User Manger -> {Your Username}: I see that "Enable administrator privileges for this user" is checked.
Is this because I have Chrome Remote Desktop running?

Hi,
Don't know if this is related, but I keep getting a "System Policy prevents WI-FI scans" authentication prompt.
Furthermore, I used tigervnc to see if I can bypass this problem, but tigervnc also fails to the same problem.
I think this "System Policy prevents WI-FI scans" is related to some auth problem which is causing me not to be the administrator.

Forget about the "being admin" nonsense that's a windows concept - KDE should™ present you w/ a polkit authentication dialog, but that requires an active session and a running polkit agent.
Also, I guess - there's a helper service, the root account must be active.

Active session, polkit-kde-authentication-agent-1 running (and the root account is enabled)

If you run " pkexec --disable-internal-agent kate", does an authentication dialog show up (the command itself will likely fail - https://xkcd.com/838/ - but that's irrelevant for this test)

Hi,
I ran it as user, and I got this error and also did not get the auth dialog:

Error executing command as another user: Not authorized

This incident has been reported.

So I ran it with sudo, I did not get the auth dialog but got this:

qt.qpa.xcb: could not connect to display 
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Available platform plugins are: wayland-org.kde.kwin.qpa, eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, wayland-egl, wayland, wayland-xcomposite-egl, wayland-xcomposite-glx, xcb.

The sudo failure is normal, so is the "incident" - but you should™ get the authentication dialog.
It's found because otherwise you'd get "Error executing command as another user: No authentication agent found." but apparently it fails for other reasons.
Whether that's a bug in KDE or because of the remote connection idk, but you could try the behavior w/ a local connection (and your TV)

Hi,
The previous results were made by tigervnc.
Anyway I got a chance to try it on the TV and I got the admin prompt.
Do I have to reinstall KDE or is there a problem with VNC?

Reinstalling KDE will unlikely yield results.
You could edit /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.kde.kcontrol.kcmsddm.policy to allow_any instead of allow_active

The solution over there just allows every action for %wheel users w/o any authentication - not sure how "manually start the agent from console and it does work well with the new rule" would fit that condition (you don't need an agent if you grant permissions unconditionally)

I ran sudo EDITOR=nano visudo and uncommented:

And it still does not work. By the way, If it is useful here is the user permissions part of visudo:
