Second screen black when using nouveau

I recently switched from the proprietary nvidia-390xx drivers to the nouveau drivers, and I’ve noticed that, after logging in, my second monitor will go from the background of my display manager (dark grey) to black. When I move my mouse over to it, I get a glitched white line at the top and nothing else. I’m not familiar with this driver; is there a way to fix this?

P.S. my primary (working) monitor is 1920x1080, and my secondary (non-working) monitor is 1440x900.

This is probably due to your compositor/configuration?

The monitor settings are the same as when I had the proprietary driver, if that’s what you mean. If not, then can you elaborate?
