Hello everone,
As stated in the title I am not able to log into the tty using my fingerprint sensor (even after waiting for several minutes).
Only after logging in and waiting for about 10 seconds (during that time trying to authenticate sudo still asks for a password) the fingerprint sensor kicks in and can now be used for everything.
The fingerprint sensor now works until the laptop is rebooted. It also works after hibernation.
My laptop is a Thinkpad t490 and the fingerprint sensor is a: "Synaptics, Inc. Prometheus MIS Touch Fingerprint Reader".
I follwed the instructions on the fprint wiki page and installed:
fprintd, imagemagick and libfprintf
I also followed the t490 specific instruction on it's wiki page:
- Updating my drivers using fwupd
Lastely I added fprintd to the pam.d settings.

What display manager do you use there ? Maybe it doesnt run/support printd?
Also have you read the archlinux wiki page ? Some info can help you !

No display manager just straight logging into the tty.
And yes I have read and followed the instructions on the wiki page.
