When I run MPD and start playing a song, other programs won't play sound anymore (YouTube videos don't load on Firefox, I can't hear anything in Discord calls, etc.). If another program is running and playing sound while I open MPD, then it won't play anything, sometimes it gives the error "MPD: Problems setting volume"

}Your using pulse as your mpd output. If mpd occupies pulse, then the other apps wanting to use pulse will not be able to function while mpd is running.
See if you can setup mpd to output directly from ALSA. Alternatively as in my system, mpd with JACK Audio.

I think the service is being run as a user.
I enabled the mpd.socket so that mpd would start automatically when a program such as ncmpcpp tries to connect.

Check the status of the mpd.service with and without the --user option. Without the option will show the status for the system service.

It is running as system. Running "systemctl status mpd.service --user" returns "Failed to connect to bus: No such file or directory", and running it without the --user option returns that the service is active and running. How do I make MPD run as user? I tried killing MPD, disabling mpd.socket and enabling it again with the --user option, but it also returns "Failed to connect to bus: No such file or directory".
