GDM does not write "authentication failure" to /var/log/[b|w]tmp

Hello, everyone,

unfortunately, apparently incorrect password entries are not written to

/var/log/wtmp | /var/log/btmp

when I try to log in to the GDM (GNOME)?

The command

lastb klaus

does not contain any entries, even though I have intentionally entered the password wrong several times when trying to log in to the GDM (GNOME)?

# lastb klaus

btmp begins Do Jul 21 18:54:47 2020

Many thanks in advance for hints what it might be.
Klaus.

Not an installation issue, moving to Newbie Corner.
