[Solved] tty is black until after startx

I am trying to view the tty at boot (to use ly as a display manager), however, the screen is black until I run startx manually. I have autologin to tty1 setup with getty, which is how I can run startx, but the screen is black and I can't see what I am typing. I have also tried running xrandr at boot but is says it can't open display.

I am using nvidia drivers, nvidia 440.82-23

If there is any other information that would be usefull, let me know.

Also, after startx is ran, if I change to a different tty, I can see everything fine, or if I kill xorg, everything works fine

Re: [Solved] tty is black until after startx

Add

nvidia-drm.modeset=1

to your kernel parameters.

Re: [Solved] tty is black until after startx

I'm having this problem, but with a Ryzen IGPU. Adding `radeon.modeset=1` from the grub menu didn't help, but I can log in blindly and run `startx` to get to my WM and use the system with or without the setting.
