[SOLVED] Permissions issue when merging pacnew files

Hello!

I'm new to (arch) linux and I'm quite happy so far.
Today I have merged my pacnew files for the first time. Using pacdiff and kompare I succeeded ultimately, but I had to manually change the permissions of the resulting files. Does anyone know, what settings I have to change in order to preserve the file permissions? Do I have to change something within kompare?

Thanks!

Re: [SOLVED] Permissions issue when merging pacnew files

It seems kompare ignores the original file permissions to unconditionally sets them to 700. I see no option to change that. If you can’t find those, consider reporting this as a bug.

Meanwhile, if you seek a GUI merging tool, you may try extra/meld. It also seems to offer much more merge features. A hint: press shift or control to see more actions than just adding line. Meld screenshot

That was exactly what I was looking for! Meld works great.
