Copying from a CD is extremely slow

I am trying to copy a song from a CD (which I own) to the hard drive and it is extremely slow. Also if I try to play it from the CD (amarok) it doesn't work I can only play it if it is on the hard drive    :?:

Re: Copying from a CD is extremely slow

Check your DMA settings for your optical drive.  Example, mine is /dev/hdc, so I'd run "hdparm /dev/hdc" and make sure DMA is enabled.  It can be enabled using "hdparm -d1 /dev/hdc"
