Screen glitches after GRUB welcome message through boot process

Subject line says it all, really. After starting up and getting the "Welcome to GRUB" message, my display glitches through the boot process until the login screen appears. I have tried finding solutions to this issue, but nobody else seems to have ever had this problem before. My installation is about a week old (I used the installation guide for the entire process) and my system is up to date.

As for what I have tried so far, I have tried setting a nomodeset kernel parameter to my GRUB configuration, but this did not work; not only did it not fix the glitching, but it stopped my system from booting automatically (making it essentially unusable).

Please, anyone, let me know if you have had this problem before!
