E17 won't load after upgrade to latest openssl-0.9.8c

I'm running Arch (32bit), latest upgrade from /current, /extra, /community & some TUR repos

System was upgraded last Tuesday and was running very fine.
Yesterday, upgraded to openssl-0.9.8c (that single package was upgradable) with pacman -Syu
Since then, X won't start, neither with nvidia nor with NV driver.
It first complained about missing 'libssl.so.0.9.7' so created a symlink of this name linked to libssl.so.0.9.8 (I rememberg a similar dirty hack allowed me to startx X earlier this year), but X didn't start. Message about libssl.so.0.9.7 disapeared though
/var/log/Xorg.0.log shows no single error (EE) or warning (WW)

Donwgrading to openssl-0.9.8b-1 (that I still had in my personnal repo) didn't do the trick.

Now I guess I'd better try to build openssl again and upgrade with self builded package and try again.
But still, in what direction should I look to understand and avoid this issue ?
This is a production machine and I presently have quite some "real life" work to do on it.

EDIT : It's not X but Enlightenment DR17 that won't load, whenever I recompiled & installed latest openssl-0.9.8c
KDE loads fine.

Anybody there has (had) a similar issue ?

it's not openssl that needs recompiling but more probably e17 so it links against the new version.

Are you using the e17 packages from the community repo?

I'm using Fouiny packages for a year (now it's cvs-20060621-1), as he provides ~all of them & they worked without issue ever since. Latest version's getting a bit old

EDIT : known problem with new openssl !
