GDM can't start on a new installation

I just installed Arch on my Mac using Parallels (without Parallels tools), but I can't get GDM (or even SDDM) to start properly. It just hangs. All I see is a black screen with an underscore.

When I check the GDM status I can see:

Started GNOME Display Manager.
GdmDisplay: Session never registered, failing
Child process -925 was already dead.
Child process -925 was already dead.
Child process -994 was already dead.

Any idea how I can fix this?

Re: GDM can't start on a new installation

Hi,

i have the same problem with my Thinkpad T480s when it's in the docking station.

So far I only found the workaround to switch to another tty with ctrl + alt + F2, log in as root and then: systemctl restart gdm && exit.

It doesn't solve the problem but I can log in as usual via gdm.

Switching into another TTY and (re)starting GDM doesn't work for me btw.
