[SOLVED] My keyboard isn't working properly

Even though it was working flawlessly last night (after an update and a reboot), my keyboard stopped working properly this morning.

At first, it was only pressing extra letters when I pressed the button "E" (it was coming out on the screen as "yer"). I didn't do anything, but the problem got worse after a few minutes. Now some keys are not even working, while pressing others triggers random letters and symbols (sometimes not even including whatever's on the actual key I pressed). Sometimes it just spams random letters and symbols without any input from me.

Also, please tell me a way to type the command if you're going to ask me for the output of one.

Hey which desktop environment are you using?
Does a simple reboot work?
Do you have an onscreen keyboard?
Then, you should check the output of

 xinput

Find your keyboard ID . Then

xinput disable KEYBOARD_ID

And, reenable it

xinput enable KEYBOARD_ID

(using your onscreen keyboard of course)

It smells like your keyboard is packing up. Can you try it in another PC?
If it's a laptop, you can try any live distro and see if you can type properly in it.

While this is likely a HW issue
a) does this also happen in the linux console (ie. the dos-like thing without graphics)?
b) does it happen at your boot loader?
c) what kind of keyboard is this specifically (laptop built-in, usb, bluetooth, … and vendor/model)?

Thank you to everyone, it seems like it was indeed a hardware issue. For the record, I'm using a tablet-PC (Samsung ATIV Pro 700T), and it seems like the keyboard was just irritated for some reason.

I actually tried to reinstall the OS since I needed the laptop urgently, but I wasn't able to do it because of the keyboard. So I used another PC, and let this one stay like that for a day. The keyboard now works properly.
