[SOLVED] keyboard does not work in X11, but works in tty1

I have a brand new installation, with MATE desktop environment, running x11.

After startx the keyboard is unresponsive.

Some search in forums led me to the https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=237782. I suspect I have the same situation, however I do not have a touch screen, and the thread didn't provide a solution.

and produces no further output on any keypress. The line "switch tablet-mode state 1" makes me think that I do have a tablet mode on.

event3 - AT Translated Set 2 keyboard: is tagged by udev as: Keyboard
event3 - AT Translated Set 2 keyboard: device is a keyboard
-event3 DEVICE_ADDED AT Translated Set 2 keyboard seat0 default group1 cap:k

 event3 KEYBOARD_KEY +0.187s	*** (-1) released
^C
event3 - AT Translated Set 2 keyboard: device removed

does produce output on a keypress.

My question is how to disable the tablet mode.

Re: [SOLVED] keyboard does not work in X11, but works in tty1

okay, as a solution, I just blacklist intel_vbtn driver
