For the past 2-3 weeks I have been having this really weird issue where kglobalaccel5 is crashing when I log out of plasma and log back in, when this happens the fractional scaling which I have set up to 1.25 resets and everything on the desktop becomes small. The interesting thing to note here is that this was happening on both lts and mainline kernel when this issue first began then over a few kernel updates it stopped happening on the lts but still happening on the mainline kernel. The other difference is that before on the lts kernel it used to happen randomly like on 3rd or 4th log in and on mainline always on first log out and log in.
When I log back in the second time (after kglobalaccel5 crashes and scaling resets and I log out and log back in again) the whole desktop freezes I can only see the conky widget and the rest is the sddm default login wallpaper.
I read somewhere that this issue was supposedly fixed by KDE a few months back.

#6 0x00007f52d7d0e293 __clone (libc.so.6 + 0x100293)EDIT: Adding KillUserProcesses=yes in /etc/systemd/logind.conf seems to fix the issue completely but I read somewhere that it is not a good practice as it causes issues with tmux and ssh.
EDIT2: For users coming back to this post with the same issue, I noticed another better way to solve this i.e by using gdm. Using gdm is never causing any crash on any kernel and also it doesnt kill user processes on logout.

Yes I do have nvidia-450 installed but it's setup with nvidia-xrun with openbox. By default intel graphics are used for display. So I dont think the bugs mentioned are related to my issue.
PS: Im on laptop with hybrid graphics

Maybe related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421676 , it happened to me when kwin_x11 was taking too long to start, other programs such as kglobal accel were also failing to start. As a temporary workaround you can try killing user processes after logging out
sudo sed -i 's/#KillUserProcesses=no/KillUserProcesses=yes/' /etc/systemd/logind.confEDIT: if you do not plan to use SSH or tmux, KillUserProcesses should work just fine on a desktop scenario
