Update breaks software RAID

I've updated my PC this morning (I'm not using this one regularly) and my software raid stopped working (had it configured via mdadm).
It did not show as an md device in /dev/ and both

mdadm --misc --query

as well as

mdadm --misc --examine

on the raid participants returned only mdadm's insistence that these are not part of a raid.

I'm not even sure what could have caused this. I tried rolling back my packages to 2020-09-01 because I know for a fact that on that day, it was working. That fixed it, so the raid itself does not seem to be at fault.

Does anybody have any insight or suggestions? I'm not really keen on checking through every single package that has been updated since the beginning of september... and mdadm itself was not updated in ages.

Re: Update breaks software RAID

probably the same issue as in the previous thread? Kernel 5.8.8 fails to recognize software RAID

software raid still works fine for me but its a native mdadm raid, not intel fakeraid

Ah, super! Thanks for pointing me there -- it's exactly my issue.
