Touchpad issues after closing laptop lid

I've got a recurring issue with my laptop whenever I close my lid, currently untested when I'm outside of sway, but consistently happening while it's running.

Simply, gestures on my touchpad stop working as intended, and my two finger scroll somehow gets shunted over to three fingers with two finger gestures doing nothing. Mouse movement and clicking still works as usual.
Exiting out of sway, there's a message in bash about synaptics and a jumping cursor error. (Reads: event 11 - SynPS/2 Synaptics Touchpad: Kernel error: Touch jump detected and discarded, see this page. for details.)

What can I do to stop this error occurring, or at the very least fix it after it's occurred? Is there a way I can start the drivers again?
