Conflicting Packages and Dependencies

So, I haven't been able to update anything or install anything new in a long while. I've been receiving errors about conflicting packages. The issue is that these packages don't seem to exist. I've tried numerous things and don't really know what to do about it.

looking for conflicting packages...
:: systemd-libs and libsystemd are in conflict. Remove libsystemd? [y/N] y
:: python2-pyqt5 and pyqt5-common are in conflict. Remove pyqt5-common? [y/N] y
:: openexr and ilmbase are in conflict. Remove ilmbase? [y/N] y
:: geoclue and geoclue2 are in conflict. Remove geoclue2? [y/N] y
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: installing xorgproto (2020.1-1) breaks dependency 'xf86dgaproto' required by libxxf86dga
:: installing pacman (5.2.1-6) breaks dependency 'pacman<5.2' required by pamac-aur-git

When I go to remove anything manually it just doesn't exist (like to delete them).  Please help, I really don't know what I'm doing and would love some assistance so I can actually use my computer again.

Re: Conflicting Packages and Dependencies

Yeh, I ended up removing that, plus another thing, plus another one in the end. Am hoping I didn't wreck anything. Thanks for confirming I did the right thing.

Don’t cross post https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=259829

Considering the undetermined amount of time you went without updating and the amount of things that have changed, my personal suggestion is a reinstall, tho is not the only path, but it’s by far the quickest.

Re: Conflicting Packages and Dependencies

Sorry I wasn't sure how to delete a reply. I have tried updating the keyring and only get a keyring error still. I'm not sure what to do. Do I uninstall the keyrings and reinstall? Is it like one of those "turn it off and turn it back on again" kinda things?

Re: Conflicting Packages and Dependencies

Your pacman is too old to successfully update the system anyway. If you get past the key errors,  you *might* be able to update, then you'd have to reinstall all packages again to get the hooks to run correctly. Or you can use an external pacman (pacman-static or from a recent install disk)

Arch doesn't like to be neglected.

Have you considered wiping it and installing a distro that works better for your usage?

Re: Conflicting Packages and Dependencies

See the issue is, I tried to fix this when it happened. I wasn't sure about removing some of the conflicting packages and asked for help elsewhere but with no success. I was just resigned to it, but thought I'd give it another try. I love updating things regularily but the issues I had wouldn't allow me to update and I wasn't sure how to resolve it, concerned I would delete something important by accident. So basically you're telling me I'm screwed because I waited too long.

Re: Conflicting Packages and Dependencies

No, he said you could use https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pacman-static to fix things. All you need is the pacman-static program and a recent keyring installed.

When is the last time you updated?
