Hi there,
I'd like to install writely (writely.com) on my server but I can't find sources in the web yet it's open source. Any suggestions?

If it's installed on one server it can be installed on mine. It uses openoffice.org code so the sources should be freely available.

um. no, it doesnt use openoffice.org code. because it can output OpenDocument files, doesnt mean it uses OOo code. OpenDocument is a standard, that can be implemented by any application.
It's a service like say gmail, not a freely available application like phpbb. I think google are launching a corporate version -- however that'll cost some money ![]()

Well, is it GPLed?
Don't think Google need to release the source code as they ain't distributing any binaries.
Contact the Writely crew: http://www.google.com/support/writely/bin/request.py
But I don't think they will release anything as their buisness model seems to be software-as-a-service.

You can't really install it on your server but if you have your own domain you can apply for Google Apps for Your Domain. It doesn't include writely right now but it should be there by the end of this year (together with Spreadsheets).

your source for that info? i really doubt they'd somehow hack OOo into it, most likely OOo uses a third party lib that they both use.

I can guarantee that Writely is not open and you will not be able to install it on your own server.
Yeah, they can use any number of freely available libraries for a range of different languages instead.
Besides, if they did release the code, I bet you would have hell getting it to work on a server, as it's most likely some patched version of something.

Thanks for info.
