Adwaita title bars buttons rendering broken - fresh gnome install

Fresh install today. Gnome was using breeze when I logged in, so I switched to adwaita, and now I get the following broken minimize/maximize/close icons.

GTK version:

gtk3 1:3.24.23-4

I've tried rebooting, both Wayland and Xorg sessions, reinstalling gtk as well as the entire gnome group, installing 3rd party themes, switching to them, and back. The icons in /usr/share/icons look normal. Any other ideas?

Edit: Note, other themes also appear to be broken, and ones that look OK all appear to share the same icons for those buttons.

Re: Adwaita title bars buttons rendering broken - fresh gnome install

Hi,

I had the same issue when I logged in a Gnome session after using Plasma 5.20 with the Breeze-gtk theme.
I ended up deleting gtk-3.0 config files in $HOME/.config/. Title bar buttons looked fine after restarting the session.

Most likely, gtk3 theme customizations in ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css could result in this kind of issue.
