OpenBox Questions...

Hej guys,

I love OpenBox, it's so easy and simple and light and I have it setup almost exactly how I want it. But is it still being maintained? If no, is there a similar, more modern, currently maintained manager that I should consider?

Second question, a bit obscure but worth a shot. In OpenBox, when you tab through windows (or cycle through windows however you have the shortcut setup), the currently selected window appears with a thick black line around it. I want to change the colour of that border to something that stands out a little more, but I can't find it specified in any theme file. Does anybody know if it is configurable, and if it is, how to do that?

Thanks!

Re: OpenBox Questions...

1 - that's right, openbox is still alive! and hopefully for many more years :-) in the arch repository (community) they released an update this year. Anyway you have the official website http://openbox.org/wiki/Main_Page.
2 - are you using compton? try take a screenshot.

Re: OpenBox Questions...

It may be alive in the sense that it is still usable, but it is definitely abandoned. Sure, there were a few small patches by package maintainers, but there has not been a single upstream update since 2015. (See http://git.openbox.org/?p=dana/openbox.git;a=log and http://git.openbox.org/?p=mikachu/openbox.git;a=log.)

Similar alternatives? None that I know. Unless you feel adventurous. Then there is the work-in-progress labwc for Wayland, but I have no idea how usable it is.

Re: OpenBox Questions...

The fact that it hasn't changed in a while doesn't mean it's abandoned.  It's complete.  What needs to change?  Are their bugs that aren't being addressed upstream?

In fact the developers have been active on their bug tracker within the past couple months.  So it is clearly not abandoned.

Re: OpenBox Questions...

Alternative: may be cwm. It is in aur. I find it easier to configure as it is configured using simple text file.
