Laptop common factor in Xorg 7.1 ati problems ?

I've seen several people with problems with ATI after the upgrade to xorg 7.1 and atleast 2 of them have a reference to Mobility Radeon in their xorg.log .

I don't think i have seen people with desktop ATI cards reporting problems, could the problems be related to laptop cards ?

I have a problem on my desktop and I have an Ati graphic card (X1300).
But I am not using the ati drivers: the problem appears with the vesa driver.
