[SOLVED] issues with sddm and zsh

I use sddm (to launch i3, but I don't think has any implication in this). I have my setup working perfectly on desktop, but on the process of moving my dotfiles to my laptop, sddm looks frozen when launching.

I can't even fully understand the behaviour, because if I switch to tty2 and launch firefox I can switch back and see that firefox is running. I searched around and found some old issues with sddm and zsh, so I tried switching my shell to bash, and I can login normally.

I tried looking through the logs on:

journalctl -xb

but found nothing (except warnings of the sddm chili theme loading assets).

I'd like to be able to use zsh normally again, any ideas?

Well what's in your dotfiles and does the issue disappear if you don't use your dotfiles? SDDM has very little relevance on this it will just log you in. Post the journal without the -x option if you want us to take a look.

Thanks V1del for the fast reply,

Turns out I'm an idiot and I was checking out the wrong branch of my own dotfiles. I was loading a file that sets the DISPLAY variable for use with WSL, there was no error message because everything was working fine, just not on my screen...

Thank you for your help! I could have gone mad looking around for bugs for hours if you didn't suggest the obvious.
