I have recently been having a lot of issues with my Arch server with the most pressing being that the VMs on it have stopped working after a update and reboot, I can't get a list of VMs from virsh but from attempts to SSH into any of my VMs I assume that none are active.
Here is the sequence of events:
1) I added a virtual display to my main desktop VM (also Arch) so that I could access it remotely, this VM has GPU pass through of a 5700xt
2) I did some work and removed the virtual display
3) I remotely rebooted my system once
4) When I returned home my Arch desktop (inside a VM) did not launch it just had a black screen after the BIOS screen (not even GRUB which should appear)
5) I was able to continue using it by booting off a live USB and chrooting into it (everything seemed fine)
6) I tried reinstalling GRUB
7) I reinstalled Arch (switching the virtual disk for a blank one)
8) I repeated 6 & 7 a few times with normal use of my desktop system (with updates) occurring
9) The host server was updated along the way as well (the vfio kernel is in use)
10) I was preparing to make a post about these issues so I decided to see if it was an Arch issue by trying to install Ubuntu
a) Switched the virtual disk for a blank one
b) Downloaded and attached Ubuntu live CD
c) Rebooted my server to apply changes
If it makes a difference I am using a AMD CPU (3900x)
At this point I am completely lost and I am worried that I will damage my system even further if I continue blindly trying things.
