[Solved] NVIDIA driver won't load after upgrading and downgrading

So today I did full system upgrade to my Arch and realised that NVIDIA is not supporting the 5.9.1, so I downgraded to kernel to 5.8.14 again. But still, it won't load up the Nvidia driver.
I checked up /usr/share/X11 configs and /etc/X11 configs, and noticed something has changed but I didn't really know which config.

Before upgrading, Nvidia driver worked properly and running smoothly without any issues. Any help to re-enable the Nvidia driver would be highly appreciated.

Re: [Solved] NVIDIA driver won't load after upgrading and downgrading

You need to downgrade the "nvidia" (... and in this case nvidia-utils as well since there was a version bump) package relevantly as well so that it matches with the kernel it was built against.

That said, the latest nvidia package (455.38) should work with the 5.9 kernel and the previously broken usecases, according to https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 5#p1934905

Thanks for the reply!

I did downgrade the nvidia and nvidia-utils too. It works perfectly.
Thanks for your help. I'll mark this topic to solved.
