Btrfs install to evaluation

I was suggested to ask if I did everything I should during btrfs installation
To install system I used Arch wiki mostly. Other information like tutorials from web I use to check my understanding and always compare to Arch wiki

I would just like to know if I didn't make a mistake that could lower system performance or system and data security.

My installation looked like this:
drive: SSD sda

sda1 260 MiB Efi
sda2 rest of the disk btrfs formatted

mount /dev/sda2 /mnt
btrfs subvolume create @, @home, @cache
umount /mnt
mount -o rw,noatime,compress=zstd:3,ssd,space_cache,commit=120,subvol=@ /dev/sda2 /mnt
mkdir /efi, /home, /var/cache
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/efi
mount -o rw,noatime,compress=zstd:3,ssd,space_cache,commit=120,subvol=@home /dev/sda2 /mnt/home
mount -o rw,noatime,compress=zstd:3,ssd,space_cache,commit=120,subvol=@cache /dev/sda2 /mnt/var/cache

pacstrap /mnt base linux linux-firmware linux-headers linux-devel vim man wpa_supplicant networkmanager

Other settings as in the Installation Guide

after chroot
I did network configuration, and things with time.
I set up user account with sudo access (wheel group)

Installation of grub as in wiki:

grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/mnt/efi --bootloader-id=GRUB

grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

edit mkinitcpio
I deleted fsck hook and added consolefont hook
I did

mkinitcpio -P

I'm not sure if I could do something better. Or maybe install some packages to make system faster, safer or easier. Next step is Desktop Environment but I didn't decide which so it will wait smile

Re: Btrfs install to evaluation

You'll have to at least generate the fstab file. Maybe edit it afterwards as well, I don't know if the generator can handle btrfs subvolumes.

Re: Btrfs install to evaluation

I already did
Current fstab is:

# <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
# /dev/sda2
/dev/sda2 / btrfs rw,noatime,compress=zstd:3,ssd,space_cache,commit=120,subvol=@	0 0

# /dev/sda1
UUID=C702-A914      	/efi      	vfat      	rw,relatime,fmask=0022,dmask=0022,codepage=437,iocharset=iso8859-1,shortname=mixed,utf8,errors=remount-ro	0 2

# /dev/sda2
/dev/sda2 /home btrfs rw,noatime,compress=zstd:3,ssd,space_cache,commit=120,subvol=@home	0 0

# /dev/sda2
/dev/sda2 /var/cache	btrfs rw,noatime,compress=zstd:3,ssd,space_cache,commit=120,subvol=@cache	0 0

Generator can handle btrfs subvolumes easly.
I did some cleanup becouse generateor create
subvol=/@,subvol=@/subvolid=
And I already know that subvol=@ is enough

I can tell that If you do step-by-step installation with my btrfs partition settings then the system will work.

I asked this question because even though I read A LOT of btrfs documentation I'm not sure if there isn't something I missed.

An example:
If someone will install system directly on top level subvolume instead of @ for root then (@ can be replaced with anything. @ is just my habit) there will be a problem with subvolume snapshots.
