[SOLVED] Relationship between xfce4-power-manager and UPower?

The configs for the two overlaps, confusing me.
What's the root for power management?

Re: [SOLVED] Relationship between xfce4-power-manager and UPower?

Upower is primarily a battery information/notification/abstraction daemon. So upower is responsible for reading battery information and pushing out low/critical battery warnings to interested clients. xfce4-power-manager (... pretty much all DE power managers) are clients to the upower daemon so that they can show you battery level information and do whatever configured action you set up on low/critical battery warnings.

It can technically be  used to configure latencies for certain applications but not sure how much that is used. The primary usecase is to have a single interface for querying battery information. Actions beyond that scope are usually implemented differently.
