The Nextcloud desktop client keeps restarting

Recently i had the problem that sometimes the Nextcloud-desktop-client starts with no apparent reason and then keeps restarting whenever i try to close it. After some try and error error error ... i found that it starts the moment the first file dialog of any (well, any i tried: evince and tau-editor) gnome-application is opened. It then keeps restarting as long as those programs are open. The task is a child of the user systemd process.

Is this a bug or intention? If the later, any chance i can disable this behavior?
