USB Hub + Webcam + External display +KVM [solved]

Having issues with my logitech webcam (c930e) when I hook it up into my external display that has a built-in USB 3.0 hub. I have two computers (arch, windows) on a desktop KVM that integrates a DP switching and a USB 2.0 hub for things like my mouse and keyboard. In Windows, no problems - everything gets passed through KVM hub to monitor hub to webcam. My linux machine does not detect the connection of anything connected to my monitor's hub, the webcam only gets detected if I directly connect it to my laptop.

dmesg and lsusb are silent when I connect my device:

Re: USB Hub + Webcam + External display +KVM [solved]

I guess that the display USB hub is connected to the KVM too. What happens if you connect it directly to your laptop?

Re: USB Hub + Webcam + External display +KVM [solved]

I managed to solve my issue. I had my upstream USB plugged into the keyboard port on my KVM and I forgot that the keyboard port doesn't work for anything (never understood why).
