[SOLVED] set color of unused area of MPlayer?

I use dwm or sometime Awesome. I usually play mp4 with mplayer which is set floating and centered.
If I toggle floating of MPlayer and tile it, then there are unused areas above and under or left and right because of difference between client window's ratio and video's ratio.
Those unused areas show video's still picture which was captured at the time of changing the client window size.

How can I set color of those unused areas of MPlayer?

I found -sub-bg-color in man page but I don't find any what I want.

Thanks in advance.

Re: [SOLVED] set color of unused area of MPlayer?

There's no background.
mplayer uses a fixed aspect window, your WM ignores that hint and the remaining geometry is simply not drawn (that's why you see some static artifact, it's what mplayer painted last)

You can use "-nokeepaspect" but that gets you a squished video.
Have you tried whether mpv behaves better?

Thanks for reply. Yeah understood.
I have tried vlc with "minimal view mode (Ctrl+h)" which is exactly what I want.
thanks.
