Re: KDE Plasma not detecting Battery Discharge

I also have same issue since a month or so ago. I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon 7th Gen laptop. It was working fine before then (can't recall what and when it broke). At first I thought this was hardware issue, but it does not seem so because it identifies fine in bios and diagnostic mode. It also works with LTS kernel. When I use LTS kernel, KDE (I have not tried other DEs) knows that it is unplugged and goes into power saving mode, but with Stable Linux Kernel and Zen kernel both, this issue appears. I am using Zen kernel right now because I have noticed less lags with various applications, but I have tried every Stable Kernel since a month ago. I cannot use LTS because of audio issue with X1 Carbon. It does not see my audio devices for some reason.

Here are some details, please let me know if I can provide more to investigate this issue. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: KDE Plasma not detecting Battery Discharge

Hey @wildnux, I have a Carbon G8 with the same issues, and I was wondering if you figured anything out here?

I believe it must be an issue with either KDE plasma itself, or its integration with something else. It started working for me since a couple weeks ago (not exactly sure when). I have recently disabled the battery charge threshold from TLP and instead do it from KDE's power management module (advanced tab) instead.
I have KDE 20.08.3-1 now. (All kde packages with this version)

My Kernel that I am using right now is:

Linux x1 5.9.10-zen1-1-zen #1 ZEN SMP PREEMPT Sun, 22 Nov 2020 14:22:26 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Other packages that might be of interest with their version:

acpi 1.7-3
acpi_call-dkms 1.2.1-2
tp_smapi 0.43-252
upower 0.99.11-3
powerdevil 5.20.3-1
tlp 1.3.1-2
tlp-rdw 1.3.1-2

I also have latest bios and firmware updates (I had it when I had issues as well) from lenovo (uing fwupdmgr). I have not used this laptop a lot with battery so I am not 100% sure if it is really fixed, but so far it has correctly identified that it is not charging when I yank the AC plug out. Hope that helps.
