Hi,
since 5.5.0 and now with calibre 5.6.0, when attempting to start it, i face the following:
koko@slimer# calibre
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/bin/calibre", line 20, in <module>
sys.exit(calibre())
File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/gui_launch.py", line 72, in calibre
from calibre.gui2.main import main
File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/gui2/__init__.py", line 31, in <module>
from calibre.ebooks.metadata import MetaInformation
File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/ebooks/__init__.py", line 13, in <module>
from calibre.ebooks.chardet import xml_to_unicode
ImportError: bad magic number in 'calibre.ebooks.chardet': b'\x03\xf3\r\n'
I tried to start with another user and to upgrade the system (went from calibre 5.5.0 to calibre 5.6.0)
Installed packages: pacman -Q: http://sprunge.us/DeEx8x
Out of official repos packages: pacman -Qm: http://sprunge.us/DsTsMB
Any hint?
...aaand solved.
Removed calibre with pacman -Rs, but noticed that some files were still present in /usr/lib/calibre, so after ensuring they did not belong to any installed package, i removed the whole dir and reinstalled calibre, now it starts.
Go figure out what weird things i did in the past, who knows.
