Eaton 5E UPS 20 second cycle disconnect - patch question

Good day all,

I have just come over to Arch Linux from windows 10 for all the usual reasons and am running my system now as a dual boot with Arch/Plasma as my daily driver with windows 10 as a "when needed" for those things that are "Only windows"

So as the subject says, I have an Eaton 5E UPS that I have been attempting to get running with nut, but it keeps failing very likely due to the fact the UPS keeps repeatably disconnecting and reconnecting.
Output dmesg:

Now I believe I have found a link to a patch to fix this problem, but I am unsure of how to go about patching what appears to be just 1 file - or do I have to build the entire kernal from the ground up?

Link to supposed patch

I would appreciate to fix this as appears this was a year ago flagged and hasn't been touched since...

Thanks
