I have things setup to suspend when I close my laptop lid which is working as expected. The issue is that when I open things back up I would expect the lock screen to show up and then I could enter my password to unlock things. This is the behavior on an X11 session of GNOME. On the wayland session my screen stays blank but the system has actually resumed which I know because I can still enter in my password and successfully unlock the computer and then my DE shows up and everything is back to normal.
If I manually suspend my session using the drop down menu then I can resume from suspend and the lock screen shows up as expected so it seems to be related only to resuming from suspend after closing the laptop lid. I'm using a thinkpad t495s just in case that helps troubleshoot anything.
