gstreamer? anyone got it to work?

I get

ERROR: pipeline could not be constructed: Empty bin

when I try gst-launch from a terminal

Oh, well, so much for Gnome's revelutionary media architecture.  Let me know what the prob might be and in the mean time I'll stick with Gnome-Alsaplayer and something like Xine or VLC for vid playback, mplayer does't seem that great IMO.

Re: gstreamer? anyone got it to work?

Found this description of gst-launch:

gst-launch is a tool that builds and runs basic GStreamer pipelines.

So I think you want the program gst-player or something else based on gstreamer, but there are very few things in arch that are based on it.  I think rhythmbox is based on it, but I like using the xine backend one because its more stable than the version included in arch.  The new gstreamer is supposed to be very stable and sounds like it might be able to play a large amount of formats with the ffmpeg plugin.
