How did you  install the driver? You need to rebuild it every time the kernel updates or changes, which is easiest done by setting up the DKMS version https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/rtl8821ce-dkms-git/ together with the headers for the kernels you intend to be using.

You installed it how? From where?

One of these?
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/rtl8821ce-dkms-git/
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/rtl8821ce-dkms/
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/rtl8821ce-dkms-lts/

And why did you install it? Output of:

lspci -k

Also what kernel

uname -a

Re: [SOLVED]how to modprobe rtl8821ce driver in LTS kernel?

i must have omitted to install linux-lts-headers the first time. reinstalling it fixed the issue.

however, there seems to be 2 instances of the wifi driver running as i see 2 notifications of IWD connecting to the wifi hotspot upon logging in

it maybe connected to the r110 and r115 versions of the rtl8821ce drivers being installed by dkms. i tried to remove 1 of them but did not succeed.

is it possible iwd is loading both versions of the driver? and how to remove the duplicate entry?

thanks
