Discord refuses to start because it's outdated

Current version in community is 0.0.12-2.
But they just released version 0.0.13. And it won't start until it's updated to that version.

This behavior is kinda sketchy.
Instead of community, isn't moving Discord back to AUR more appropriate?

Then (continue to) press the discord devs on it - there's nothing that can be done here.

Why?  If it was in the AUR you'd have no choice but to build your own from the PKGBUILD.  If it's in community, then you can either use the pre-built package, or still build your own via the ABS.  Or - as mentioned in the linked thread - just edit the json file.

But back to the first point - what do you want done here?  You could post in the "grr" thread if you are just venting.  If it's more than that please clarify whether you have a question or goal here.

Re: Discord refuses to start because it's outdated

I found this fix:

Arch wiki
Discord asks for an update not yet available in the repository
Sometimes, Discord will ask you to update but it's not yet available in the repository, so you can't launch Discord. To temporarily bypass this you can edit the file located here /opt/discord/resources/build_info.json. (Make a backup first just in case)
change the line "version": "0.0.13" to the latest version available (shown on the updater window) and restart Discord.
When the update is available in the repository it'll override your changes and work the same as before.
If this change breaks your Discord install, you'll have to wait for the package update.

I have exactly the same problem, will try the solution mentioned above and will get back to you.

Re: Discord refuses to start because it's outdated

Me here again, I tried the solution on the arch wiki. Obviously I had the newest version of the Arch.

The Solution worked absolutely fine. Discord no longer requested update and it ran on the "previous" version.
