[SOLVED] Upgrade to mesa/libva-mesa-driver 20.3.0-2 breaks GNOME shell

Today I upgraded mesa from 20.2.3-1 to 20.3.0-2 and rebooted. I was left with a black screen and a blinking cursor after decrypting my drive. GNOME shell did not start. When pressing 'enter' I was able to use the terminal to roll back the update and everything worked again. Has anyone else experienced any issues with the update?

I am using gnome-shell and I upgraded with no issues. Are you using Wayland or X11? Can you post some logs?

Experiencing the same issue here. X server crashes. KDE only setup / SDDM.

Seems to affect some AMD/Radeon GPU/APUs.
I'm using a Dell AIO with AMD graphics and have experienced the problem.

I had to downgrade mesa to get back to GDM login screen and onto the desktop.
