Crash when running steam on fresh install

After a fresh install, I installed steam and got a crash. My main problem is that I don't know where I should look because the output of the terminal doesn't have anything that I find useful. Also tried "DEBUGGER=gdb steam" but I found nothing interesting.

Output of the command "steam"

I know the dumps are on /tmp/dumps, what I don't know is how to read them to understand what is going on!

What should I do now?

Thanks.

Re: Crash when running steam on fresh install

Read the Steam installation prerequisites: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Steam#Installation in particular the necessity to have an en_us locale generated.

I'm almost 100% sure all the prerequisites are fulfilled.
This is my "locale" output.

[miguel@miguel-pc ~]$ locale
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=

Re: Crash when running steam on fresh install

I ran into this today, if you type in 'r' into the gdb prompt it should tell you that the crashes occur in the radeonsi_drv.so driver.

If your graphics card is AMD and of the SI or CIK generation, check if both the radeon and amdgpu driver is loaded.
You can check this with:

lsmod | grep -E '(amdgpu|radeon)'

One way to fix this is via this article https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AM … K)_support

Re: Crash when running steam on fresh install

I have exactly the same issue on arch but also on Manjaro unstable. The version on flatpak works, though, so I use that temporarily.

I didn't do this before on my previous installation and everything worked just fine, but with the current one it doesn't work. I'm pretty sure I did everything as before.

I'll give a try to your suggestion.
