Hi there! I tried to install pw game via wine. But it fails after downloading all it's files. Here's the error I get: "Failed to install the Perfect World game. Failed to create or write game client files. There may be insufficient disk space, or the program cannot access the client folder or its individual files. C:\MyGames\Perfect World\". How can I solve this problem? Thanks in advance!

Does look like no one tested it for several years, but maybe it helps you.
What windows version was it originally released for and was it a 32-bit version ?
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Seems like it's released for 64-bit version, so I use 64-bit WINEPREFIX. Unfortunately that's info wasn't helpful. Maybe there is a problem with files location? Really I can't find directory where it's data stored by hand (on disk c). Exactly folder "pw" which I get into clicking on "open game installation files folder" option. While installing, I used default locations suggested by game.

You should see a drive_c folder under the .wine (or whatever you called the wineprefix ) , that's where MyGames\Perfect World\ should be.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_W … ideo_game) release dates 2005 suggests it targeted windows xp 32-bit .
Try a 32-bit prefix with windows xp set as OS in winecfg .
The error you see does look like errors I've seen with (msdos / windows) programs that only supported harddrives below certain limits .
If I remember correctly, 8 / 32 / 128 Gib were common limits for MBR / BIOS drives .
How big is the partition the prefix is located on ?

Thanks, I found "pw" folder. Some of subfolders really are empty (runtine32, x64 ...), but there no errors occured while verifying game installation files. Running installation with 32-bit prefix and windows xp set as OS changes nothing. I think problem is not in prefixes or os versions because a friend of mine got the same pw working with windows 10...
Prefix is located on my "home" partition which size is about 300gb. Maybe I should try specifying size of "c:" partition if it's possible?

You'll have to a create a new partition for that and most people use all space they have.
If you have an usb stick of 8 or 16 Gib size, you could partition it and test installing on that partition.
(A bigger stick with a partition of that size is ofocurse also fine)

Okay. As I understood there are two ways:
1. I have to make smth like "/dev/sda6" on my current harddrive, install the game here, locate wineprefix here;
2. I have to partition an external harddrive and install the game on it (it's absolutely empty), locate wineprefix here.

Yes, both ways work and you only have to try one of them.
This is to verify whether the partition size is indeed the problem for the installer used by the game.

Thanks. I've almost prepared my external hdd. Before I start with 20gb file I'd like to check if THIS is my problem. I discovered what option "open game installation files folder" gives one more time and found there is size for "c:" displayed: https://pasteboard.co/JEKQr1B.png . I've never set this size and I even don't know how where & when it can be set. I'm sorry for being so inattentive...
P.S. In installer setting it is said I have 275gb free space in folder for installation files specified as "C:\MyGames\Distrib\"

The problem really was in insufficient space on disk "c". Thank you very much!
