I've been using i3wm via xrdp and xorgxrdp for a few months now, and have enjoyed pretty decent performance and acceptable as a daily driver.
Recently (in last 48 hours) I've been experiencing a very laggy desktop, but I'm not sure why. I update pretty regularly so suspect it's something there. If I monitor top, then Xorg and chrome are usually the biggest culprits. Chrome I kind of expect, so its Xorg hitting 70%+ CPU that seems to be the issue.
I see this installed recently in my pacman log:

[2020-12-14T17:03:39+0000] [ALPM] upgraded xorg-xwayland (1.20.0.r792.g36e353bcf-5 -> 1.20.0.r797.g5d73a8b59-1)It seems that mesa and gtk3 depend on wayland, although I'm not sure why that happened since the 3rd of November - perhaps they had new dependencies then.
But since this is a recent issue, I suspect it's the activity from the 11th that has caused my issues, perhaps even the just the latest upgrade to r797.
What's my next route of investigation? A downgrade? Unfortunately I don't have local access easily so I have to try to determine this via an rdp session if possible.

Well. After a few days this fixed itself. I suspect a HW or network issue.
