preprocessor C /lib/cpp fails sanity check [solved]

I'm getting this error everytime I try to compile something. It is a symlink to /usr/bin/cpp which is owned by gcc but if I try to recompile it I get.......preprocessor C /lib/cpp fails sanity check !!!!!

thanks green. Actually I just searched the forums after I posted this like an a-hole and found the solution to be reinstalling kernel-headers
