No Wireless Interface Detected

I am completely new to Linux entirely. I decided to install Arch Linux on my laptop after windows crashed. I was able to find videos and forums to help me get set up but I am stuck. My wlan0 is not appearing when I list available interfaces and so I can't connect to wifi. I ran networkctl list and did find the network controller with kernel modules: iwlwifi. I would really appreciate it if if someone could help me with getting the wlan0 interface to appear. Please take note I have no prior Linux experience and am doing the best I can through wiki/forums/videos. I have a NuVision laptop with Intel processor.

What are the results when you list interfaces? It's possible that the interface is simply called something other than wlan0. My laptop's wireless interface is wlp0s20f3 for instance.

The only interface that shows when I type ip link is: lo

Edit: I did just type: netctl list , and my wifi SSID did show up, so not sure what to do with that.

Whats the output of

lspci -k | grep -A 2 -i network

Also if your interface is not internal (other than PCI, eg: external USB Wirelss interface) try installing usbutils and using

lsusb

instead of

lspci

Also Install wireless_tools and give us the output of

iwconfig

The output of lspci - k | grep - A 2 - I network is:

01:00.0 Network Controller: Intel Corporation wireless 3165 (Rev 91)

Kernal modules: iwlwifi

Iwconfig gives me:

lo no wireless extention

My wireless device is internal

If you boot the installation media is the wireless interface listed in the output of `ip link`?

Are you sure that /lib/firmware doesn't exist ?
If not so, then :

cd ~
sudo mkdir -p /lib/firmware
git clone https://github.com/OpenELEC/iwlwifi-firmware
sudo cp ~/iwlwifi-firmware/firmware/*  /lib/firmware
reboot

Then repost the results of comment #4

That was from the installation media or the installed system that had no /lib/firmware directory?

So then it's an installation mistake i suppose, when there is no /lib/firmware, it's obvious that there would be no proper function of this

If post #7 is an accurate response to post #6 meaning from the installation media then it is more than not following the installation guide.
However if post #7 is accurate I do not see how they installed the system using the standard method at least.

So when I typed

git clone https://github.com/OpenELEC/iwlwifi-firmware

It said

-bash: git: command not found

When going over the installing essential packages wiki I got the same error for the pastrap command

It needs installation of git package, and also it requires internet connection , try fixing your installation, or if you want the dirty way, boot a live installation usb and then chroot to your current installation, there you have connection and you can install git and enter #10 commands

@TwelveLegions please reread posts #6 and #7. Is it accurate when you boot the arch installation media, ip link only shows the lo interface? If so how did you install the system?

Installation_guide#Install_essential_packages most likely you did not include linux-firmware, probably due to following an outdated video for that step.

The entire installation is done by pacstrap command, do a clean installation and remember to

pacstrap -i /mnt base base-devel linux linux-firmware

Ensure the radio isn't just rfkill'd (the device probably also has a HW switch for that) - if the NIC doesn't show up in the archiso you won't have an internet connection and not be able to (properly) install archlinux at all.
