Hi,
I am in the process of preparing my USB flash installation medium. I have followed the instructions in the link https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/US … ion_medium but after following the instructions to use the Cygwin environment with dd package which was successful according to Cygwin I get the message You need to format the disk in drive D: before you can use it which I click on the drive just to check the ISO has been copied. Can anyone kindly explain which this is happening please as I have already formatted it using File system FAT 32. Thank you all.
Kind regards,
Farchirook

Windows probably thinks the content of the USB stick is damaged, because it can’t recognize it, and wants to “fix” it.

Hi,
OK. So what do I do ? Ignore it and use it on the PC I want to install Arch Linux on or do something else ? What kind of format do I need to format it before I do dd on the USB ? Does anyone know please ?
Thank you.

No need to format anything. The image has been written and the USB stick can be used to install Arch. Or at least should be written. But the message you receive from Windows is not a sign of anything being wrong — quite opposite.

Is this now solved? if so please mark it a such.
Linux comes from discontent, if something doesn't work make it better, fix it, and learn on the way.
