[SOLVED] Issues getting Canon MG2522 to print

Hello. After multiple months of using Arch I have had a constant issue that has yet to be solved. On other distros there are pre-built packages that allow me to print documents with ease, but they usually work off of CUPS.

On Arch, I finally got something that would interface with the printer's scanner portion, called "Skanlite", a utility found on KDE that I used before going full Arch. This opened up the door for other apps such as gscan2pdf to function correctly, and allow me to scan documents and edit them as I please without borrowing a windows laptop from a family member.

Now, I still need to get my printer to PRINT documents. I have tried finding PPD files on the internet, even going to a German version of the Canon website after hearing rumors they had a driver I could use. I even went to multiple archives and searched for PPDs that were compatible with my printer. Sadly none of them allow me to print.

Lastly, I went through multiple re-installations of CUPS, resetting each time while following guides to make a USB printer accessible, and even got it to detect the printer via a usb:// protocol. still, no luck. All I see on print menus on different apps are "print to file" and "print to LPR".

Long Story Long... does anyone know where I can get a PPD for this specific printer model, or anything that is at least COMPATIBLE enough so I can just do gray scale prints? I don't need color at the moment, just something that'll work. Anything will do at this point, just not a new printer.

I've personally had good experience with gutenprint for canon printer drivers and they should include one for mg2500 series, otherwise https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cano … 0-complete

In general there's very little actual information in your post, what exactly did you try already?

So far, I have tried going to Canon's official support page to find a PPD driver there for the 2500 series
I have used the installation package from their page, which is built for windows computers, by using WINE
I have tried going through every driver that remotely resembles a Canon printer (even all the Generic drivers) in the CUPS administration page
I have tried installing other apps that have dependencies (such as Skanlite, and gscan2pdf) to eventually hit a package that has support for Canon 2500 series, to which the support would bleed into other apps.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled CUPS, following multiple instruction guides online for configuring USB printers.

all of these have failed, and all have been tried multiple times.

now, I will try running the AUR to get the package V1del mentioned.

Okay, I have gotten the package without any trouble. what do I do after installing the package? is it just a compatibility driver, or do I run some executable?

You setup the printer in cups.

Skanlite and all scanner packages use drivers from the SANE project, they are irrelevant for printing support.
