[Solved] Guake won't open at startup

Hi all
I need help with guake. It doesn't open at startup. Then, if open 'guake preferences', it works correctly.
I use gnome 3.36 (gnome-desktop, -session, -shell) with wayland.
Guake version:

  • guake terminal: 3.7.0

  • VTE (Runtime): 0.60.3

  • Gtk: 3.24.21

With journalctl I found this error:

systemd-coredump[1731]: Process 1362 (guake) of user 1000 dumped core.

Re: [Solved] Guake won't open at startup

Is "start Guake at login" checked in the General tab of Guake preferences?

Re: [Solved] Guake won't open at startup

Hi, yes it is. I even get the notification "guake has started ... f12 etc."

But then it doesn't open unless I open the "guake preferences"

Re: [Solved] Guake won't open at startup

That really should fix it try doing this from the wiki page

cp /usr/share/applications/guake.desktop /etc/xdg/autostart/

If that doesn't fix it I don't know how to help you besides telling you to update and turning it off and on again

Re: [Solved] Guake won't open at startup

I think I'm onto something! Whenever two tabs are saved in $HOME/.config/guake/session.json, it crashes (with the error mentioned above)

If I manually remove the second tab in the session json, everything works ok. Looks like a bug to me. I'll open an issue on the guake git repo, or what do you think?

Re: [Solved] Guake won't open at startup

solved by regular package updates (guake, gnome, libvte, ..)
