Can we get mdadm and lvm2 in base instead of system?

Just a thought, but could we get mdadm and lvm2 moved into the base category?

If you follow the wiki article on  software raid, http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ins … AID_or_LVM, using the arch base ISO, you hit a wall.

I realize that you could do an FTP install and get everything working, or just downloading the full install ISO,  but by adding these two packages into base, or otherwise including them in the base ISO, it gives great flexibility with very little additional space.

I figured that I would see if it was a problem for other people before I filed a bug report.  I guess that I should have made that more clear in my previous post.

Just for the record, I agree with you on lvm2 (I don't personally use mdadm, but agree with your logic).  lvm2 is the package I always forget to install, and it really aggrivates the system when you try and boot without it wink

We also need device-mapper in base as a dependency for lvm2. And while we're on it, we could move cryptsetup as well.
